Modern Sewciety Block of the Month
What makes something modern? The answer is subjective...so rather than give a strict definition let's integrate some popular design traits in modern quilts.
Some design traits are included but not limited to:
- Use of solids
- Whites and/or grays as neutrals and background/negative space
- Asymmetry in the design, especially in terms of the negative space
- Improvisational piecing
Block of the Month!
For the first 5 months, we will be making a 9 -- 12 1/2” (12” finished) quilt blocks. Each month you will be given directions for one block to make while in class plus another to make on your own. Month 6 will focus on the assembly of the quilt. An option for a layout will be provided with the appropriate fabric amounts.
