Learn to Foundation Paper Piece

Have you looked at paper pieced quilts and thought, "I can't do that"?

This class will open up a new quilting arena in your life and give you a solid foundation to explore the wonderful world of paper piecing.

Foundation paper piecing is a popular technique in making quilts but can be incredibly intimidating if you haven’t tried it! It’s done by sewing fabric to a printed paper foundation. Paper piecing can be used for many designs, from simpler blocks like a square-in-a-square or elaborate patterns like a Mariner’s compass. Foundation paper piecing patterns are almost easier than normal piecing as you have actual lines to sew along.

In this class you will learn:

  • How to accurately measure, liable & organize fabric
  • How to paper piece: sew, crease, press & trim
  • How to safely tear away paper patterns
  • How to join blocks to create a star block

Add the paper-piecing technique to your quilting skills today. Soon you’ll be making precisely pieced quilts with perfect points to impress your family and quilting friends!

Step by step directions on how to paper piece will be provided. Directions will also include how to integrate the star block into a placemat setting (time permitting). A small fee to the instructor for the preprinted foundation paper pieced templates.  Extras will be available if you wish to make the star into a wall hanging.
